The stage has been set. On December 19th, Iowa State and Oklahoma will face off at AT&T Stadium in Arlington to battle it out for the Big 12 championship.
Iowa State clinched a Big 12 title berth before their game against West Virginia kicked off as TCU knocked off Oklahoma State in Fort Worth to send the Cyclones to Jerry World. Matt Campbell and company will try to do something that has not been done in over a century at Iowa State which is win a conference championship.
Despite already punching their ticket to Arlington, Iowa State crushed West Virginia on Saturday afternoon with an easy 42-6 victory. The Cyclones are playing like a top ten team and have been red hot since the second half of the Baylor game. In their last three games they have allowed just 26 total points while they have put up total of 110 points.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma got some needed help and all they had to do on Saturday night was beat Baylor to get an opportunity to win their sixth straight conference title.
The Sooners got off to a slow start against Baylor and found themselves up just 10-0 at halftime. But Oklahoma managed to get their act together in the second half and beat Baylor 27-14 to earn them a spot in the Big 12 championship game.
Earlier this season, the Cyclones topped the Sooners 37-30 in early October but there is no question that these two teams are better now than they were two months ago. This is going to be a great matchup between two deserving teams who are playing their best football late in the year.
