Cade Cunningham has only played four games in his collegiate career, but he certainly has raised eyebrows far and wide with his play. Cunningham was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. Oklahoma State played twice last week; winning at Marquette before returning home to finish off Oakland from the Horizon League.
The freshman Cowboy guard dropped 15 points, six rebounds and three steals at Marquette, then posted 18 points and eight assists against Oakland. For the week, Cunningham averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists, and shot 50 percent from the floor and 50 percent from 3-point range.
This is Cunningham’s first accolade he has received since the season began and will most likely not be his last as the Cowboys look to jump into the rankings by remaining undefeated going into Big 12 play.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys come in at the No. 6 spot in our Big 12 basketball power rankings this past week.
The Pokes will take on Oral Roberts in Stillwater on Tuesday night, followed by Wichita State on Saturday and then the Cowboys open up Big 12 play next Wednesday at home against the TCU Horned Frogs.
