One day after winning their sixth-straight Big 12 Championship, the Oklahoma Sooners are heading to the Cotton Bowl to take on the Florida Gators.
The Gators led by Heisman contender Kyle Trask at quarterback, but are coming off a loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game, and have actually lost two in a row dating back to their season finale against LSU. The only other game lost by the Florida Gators came against the Texas A&M Aggies.
Meantime, the Sooners have won seven games in a row since losing two-straight to start Big 12 play against Kansas State and Iowa State. They got their revenge against Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship, which they won 27-21.
This is the first time a Big 12 team is playing in the Cotton Bowl since the 2014 season, when the Baylor Bears lost to the Michigan State Spartans 42-41. The last time Oklahoma played in the Cotton Bowl came after the 2012 season when they lost to Texas A&M 41-13.
This season’s Cotton Bowl will take place on Wednesday, December 30th with a 7:00 p.m. kick off on ESPN from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX.
