Matt Campbell to Players: ‘You Just Beat the [Bleep] Out of Oregon!’
When Matt Campbell is in front of the cameras, he’s passionate, yet still a bit buttoned up. What about when he’s in the locker room and it’s not clear the “cameras” are rolling?
We got a glimpse of that after Iowa State won the Fiesta Bowl over Oregon on Saturday in Glendale, Arizona.
Star running back Breece Hall was streaming Matt Campbell’s speech on Instagram Live when the head coach blurted out, “You guys just won the f**king Fiesta Bowl and beat the f*** out of Oregon!”

It doesn’t matter to me if it’s the R-rated version of Campbell, or the PG-rated version of Campbell, both are incredibly inspiring.
Here he is after the game on the podium giving the PG-rated version of how he’s built this program up.
This is the kind of video every boss in America should make their employees watch before starting the work day.
Matt Campbell is the kind of guy I want to play, or work, for.
But it’s also why when you see videos like this, and then hear rumors that such and such NFL team might have interest in Matt Campbell, I don’t buy it.
This guy was made to groom college-aged boys and turn them into men, both on and off the field. It is clear that was his calling and he embraces every single moment of doing just that. Iowa State and the community of Ames, Iowa is so lucky to have him. And they’ll be the first ones to tell you that.
