Oklahoma isn’t just in the mix for top offensive prospects anymore, it’s also in the running for top defensive prospects.
Class of 2022 Top 10 cornerback Daylen Everette put together his Top 12 list on Friday and it included the Oklahoma Sooners. Also in the running is Alabama, Clemson, Oregon, Florida State, Tennessee, North Carolina, Penn State, Florida, Georgia and Virginia.
Everette is currently playing at IMG academy. He is 6-foot, 180 pounds and is coming off a strong junior season after transferring from Norfolk (Va.) Norview. He is the No. 6 cornerback and No. 28 player in 247Sports’ rankings.
Of the top 12, Oklahoma was the latest school to offer, and that came in mid October. By contrast, of the schools on the list, Virginia Teach was the fist to offer, which it did in mid October 2019.
Oklahoma is becoming a defensive powerhouse under Alex Grinch, playing some of the best defense in the country in the second half of the season.
Everette recently told 247Sports some of the most important factors in his decision, saying, “Education. That’s the first thing. I also want to play right away when I get there so I don’t want to redshirt. Really just want a good environment.”
Let’s see if Oklahoma can keep making runs at players of Daylen Everette’s caliber.
