TCU’s Jamie Dixon announces positive test for COVID-19

NCAA Basketball: Texas Christian at Texas Tech

TCU head coach Jamie Dixon announced via Twitter on Monday evening that he has tested positive for COVID-19, just as the Horned Frogs announced that their next two games would be postponed.

The Horned Frogs will not play their scheduled games with Texas Tech on Jan. 20 and with Texas on Jan. 23 as the Horned Frogs program will go on a COVID-19 pause.

Dixon said in the tweet that the entire team had undergone testing, and that he learned today he had tested positive.

TCU did not release information on any other players that had tested positive. Big 12 teams don’t normally released that information.

The Horned Frogs are the latest Big 12 team to put a pause button on the season due to COVID-19 testing. The Horned Frogs saw Saturday’s game with West Virginia postponed, but that was due to a COVID-19 pause with West Virginia. The Mountaineers and the Big 12 made adjustments to their schedule, rescheduling the Mountaineers game with Baylor for Feb. 18 and pushing back the Mountaineers’ game with TCU in Fort Worth from Feb. 22 to Feb. 23.

The Big 12 now has 10 conference games postponed due to COVID-19.
