Oklahoma State’s Teven Jenkins, TCU’s Trevon Moehrig Lead Big 12 in Latest Mock Draft

NCAA Football: Texas Christian at Oklahoma State

Yes, the NFL season is still ongoing, but who doesn’t love looking at NFL Mock Drafts this time of year? I do.

And NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah is one of the most interesting mock drafts I read. Jeremiah had just two Big 12 players in his latest First Round NFL Mock Draft, with Oklahoma State offensive lineman Teven Jenkins leading the way to the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 24.

On Jenkins, Jeremiah writes about the pick: “The Steelers’ inability to run the football last season was a major problem. They could take a runner here (I love North Carolina’s Javonte Williams and Alabama’s Najee Harris) but I think they will address the offensive line instead. Jenkins plays with an edge (see what he did against Texas) and would provide some youth/athleticism to their aging group.”

Jenkins declared for the NFL Draft several weeks ago and at the time was considered one of the top offensive linemen in the upcoming draft.

Meantime, right behind Jenkins was the other Big 12 selection, in TCU’s Trevon Moehrig going to the Jacksonville Jaguars with the No. 25 selection.

On Moehrig, Jeremiah writes, “Moehrig is the best safety in the draft class and has the ability to play the deep middle or inside the box. He has a high ceiling and a high floor.”

Moehrig is coming off of a great season where he won the Jim Thorpe Award given to the nation’s top defensive back. He became the first in TCU football history to win this award.

The 2021 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 29th.
