It’s hard enough for the Kansas Jayhawks to win football games during this rebuild, but it certainly doesn’t help that in 2021 they will have one of the toughest schedules in college football, according to 247Sports.
The list included Arkansas, Michigan, Indiana, South Carolina, Florida State and others, including the Jayhawks.
KU was listed in the Top 10 because they potentially have five teams against Top 25 opponents.
Here’s what 247Sports had to say about the Jayhawks’ schedule, writing, “Given the uphill climb Les Miles is facing with the Jayhawks from a talent standpoint, the 2021 schedule — from the outside looking in — is awfully frightening. No team in college football has a tougher road schedule next fall, a slate consisting of Iowa State (ranked), Texas (ranked), Oklahoma State (ranked), Coastal Carolina (ranked) and TCU. Oh, and the Jayhawks will have to try and fend off Oklahoma, too.”
Well this is certainly not the kind of thing Les Miles needs as he tries to overhaul KU football in what is one of the biggest rebuilding jobs in recent college football history.
But that’s one of the toughest parts of the Big 12, there is no year where you can conveniently skip the top teams in the conference. It makes a rebuild even more difficult, especially for a team like the Jayhawks.
The good news for KU football is that Les Miles does continue to recruit well, especially by Kansas standards, which we talked with Mike Plank of Rock Chalk Talk about last week.
