Iowa State Cyclones

Pro Football Focus Names Brock Purdy The Best Quarterback in This Situation

NCAA Football: Iowa State at Texas

Just when we thought Iowa State ran off with all the Big 12 awards (which they did), First Team All-Big 12 quarterback Brock Purdy has another eye-popping statistic to add to his list of achievements from the 2020 college football season.

While PFF snubbed the Cyclones when it came to their Top 101 players list, Brock Purdy was their highest-graded quarterback in goal-to-go situations. Purdy had a grade of 91.8 which was 1.4 points higher than Memphis’ Brady White who came in second with a score of 90.4.

Brock Purdy had a shaky start to the season but ended the 2020 season strong and in his final five games he had eleven total touchdowns and threw for 1,273 yards. Purdy came into the 2020 season as a projected first round pick and while he may not have lived up to that hype, he will have another shot to prove his value as he will be back for his senior season.

Iowa State is returning nearly their entire starting 22 after making an appearance in the Big 12 championship game and capping the season off with a Fiesta Bowl victory.

However, 2021 could have even bigger things in store for Iowa State. Then again, the Oklahoma Sooners come back loaded as well. Both Oklahoma and Iowa State have Top 5 odds to win the College Football National Championship. It’s already shaping up to be a heckuva 2021 season in the Big 12 Conference.
