The Top 10 candidates for the 2021 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award includes Baylor’s Jared Butler and Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Monday.
The Bob Cousy Award is given to the nation’s best point guard.
Butler is the reigning Big 12 Player of the Week after averaging 25 points and seven assists last week. He continued to solidify his credentials as a potential first-round NBA Draft pick and a Wooden Award contender, given to the nation’s best overall player.
Butler is averaging 17.1 points per game this season, has 76 assists and leads the Bears with 35 steals.
Along with the Big 12 Player of the Week Award, Butler was named the Naismith Trophy and NCAA National Player of the Week.
Cunningham is considered one of the best freshmen in the nation. He leads the Big 12 Conference in scoring at 17.8 points per game, along with averages of 6.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.
In late February, five finalists will be presented to the Hall of Fame’s selection committee. The winner of the 2021 Bob Cousy Award will be presented April 9.
