The Kansas Jayhawks fell out of the Top 10 of the USA Today Coaches Top 25 poll for the first time this season, as the new poll came out Jan. 25.
Kansas (10-5, 4-4) had a hard week, falling to Baylor in a Big Monday affair in Waco, Texas, and then losing to Oklahoma, 75-68. With the loss, Kansas lost three games in a row for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
And with the 0-2 week the Jayhawks dropped from No. 9 to No. 18 in this week’s poll.
Baylor (14-0, 7-0 Big 12) remained undefeated for the season and No. 2 in the poll with victories over Kansas on Monday and Oklahoma State on Saturday. The Bears face Kansas State on Wednesday and then play Auburn in the Big 12-SEC Challenge game on Saturday.
The Big 12 has also rescheduled the Bears’ game with West Virginia for Feb. 18, meaning the Bears will play the Mountaineers in back-to-back games that week.
Texas (11-2, 5-1) didn’t play last week after its games with Iowa State and TCU were postponed due to COVID-19 protocols with the Cyclones and the Horned Frogs. That included TCU head coach Jamie Dixon testing positive for COVID-19. But the Longhorns remained No. 5 in the country, even without playing a game. Longhorns head coach Shaka Smart tested positive for COVID-19 and is in isolation.
Texas is set to play Oklahoma on Tuesday and then travel to Kentucky to face the Wildcats on Saturday in the Big 12-SEC Challenge.

Texas Tech (11-4, 4-3) did not play due to COVID-19 pauses at TCU and Iowa State. With that, the Red Raiders moved up to No. 10 in the poll. Texas Tech is slated to face West Virginia on Monday and then face LSU in the Big 12-SEC Challenge on Saturday.
West Virginia (10-4, 3-3) finally ended its COVID-19 pause and played Kansas State on Saturday, winning, 69-47. That helped the Mountaineers move to No. 11 in this week’s poll, after setting at No. 15 last week.
The Mountaineers are slated to face Texas Tech on Monday and host Florida on Saturday in the Big 12-SEC Challenge.
Oklahoma (9-4, 5-3) made a serious jump in the poll. The Sooners didn’t have a single vote last week. But, after wins over Kansas State and then-No. 9 Kansas, the Sooners received 65 votes this week. The Sooners are slated to face Texas on Tuesday and then Alabama in the Big 12-SEC Challenge on Saturday.
Oklahoma State (9-4, 3-4) remained on the outside looking in, receiving 37 votes after receiving 59 votes last week. Oklahoma State’s only game last week was an 81-66 loss to Baylor. This week the Cowboys face Iowa State on Monday and then face Arkansas on Saturday in the Big 12-SEC Challenge.
