Texas Tech loses Fourth Player in Four Days To Transfer Portal

It has been a rough few days for Texas Tech football. The Red Raiders lost quarterback Alan Bowman on Friday, offensive lineman Will Farrar on Saturday and wide receiver Caden Leggett on Sunday.
On Monday evening, Texas Tech has lost yet another player to the transfer portal in wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk marking the fourth Texas Tech player to transfer in the last four days.
Polk caught 28 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns last season. He was the fourth leading receiver on the team in 2020 as a true freshman. The former three-star player from Lufkin, Texas was rated as a top 75 player in the state of Texas for the 2020 class according to 247Sports.
With his decision to transfer out of the program, Tech has had a total of fourteen players publicly say they are planning to transfer since this past season has ended.
Whether it is due to playing time or the coaching staff, that is a very alarming number even in today’s college football world where the transfer portal is always busy. Regardless, Matt Wells has an 8-14 record over the last two seasons which should put him on a hot seat going into the 2021 season.
