Teague, Agbaji Make Jerry West Award Top 10
The Top 10 candidates for the 2021 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award includes Baylor’s MaCio Teague and Kansas’ Ochai Agbaji, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Tuesday.
The Jerry West Award is given to the nation’s best shooting guard.
Teague enters this week eighth in the Big 12 Conference in scoring with 14.8 points per game, fifth in field goal percentage (.471) and fifth in free throw percentage (.857). He is also in the Top 10 in the Big 12 with 1.4 steals per game and 34.6 minutes per game.
Per BaylorBears.com, Teague is the nation’s only active player with 1,500+ career points (1,674), 400+ rebounds (483), 225+ assists (246), 125+ steals (130) and 225+ made 3-pointers (250).

Agbaji leads the Jayhawks in scoring with 14.5 points per game, which is also in the Top 10 in the Big 12. He is the second-best 3-point shooter in the conference by percentage (43.2 percent) and in 3-pointers made per game (2.73). He is also second on the team in assists with 30.
In late February, five finalists will be presented to the Hall of Fame’s selection committee. The winner of the 2021 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award will be presented April 9.
