With football over and basketball in full swing, that means college baseball is just around the corner. Later this month all nine (minus Iowa State) teams will be in some type of non-conference action. And to add to the good news, the Big 12 announced that we will be getting a full slate of conference games this season starting March 19th. But before the first pitch, Baseball America released their preseason All-American teams, and we had a couple Big 12 players make the cut.
Texas Starting Pitcher Ty Madden
As a sophomore last season, Ty pitched 25 innings and had an ERA of 1.80. He did this while striking out 26 batters and allowed just four walks as opponents batted just .196 against him. Not only is he likely the best pitcher in the Big 12 but he is one of the best pitchers in the entire country.
Kansas State Starting Pitcher Jordan Wicks
After bursting on the scene as a true freshman back in 2019, Jordan had one heck of a season last year although it was cut short. He pitched a total of 26 innings and had a jaw dropping 0.35 ERA. His ERA ranked tenth in the entire country a season ago and is the Big 12 preseason pitcher of the year along with Texas’ Ty Madden.
The Big 12 Baseball season for conference play gets underway in mid-March, but most teams get their non-conference slate started in late February.
