The 2021 recruiting cycle may have technically just ended, but 2022 is already off to a red hot start for the Oklahoma Sooners.
On Friday night, Oklahoma landed the No. 1 running back in the Class of 2022, Raleek Brown. Brown made the announcement on Twitter.
Raleek Brown picked Oklahoma over offers from basically every other big-time program, including LSU, Georgia, Oregon, Michigan, Alabama and USC.
Brown is listed at 5’8” and 185 pounds and is from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. Rivals has him listed as the No. 1 running back in the country, while 247Sports lists him as the No. 3 running back in the class.
Both outlets have Raleek Brown listed as a Top 35 player in the country.
The Sooners have had a bunch of players rotating at running back in recent seasons, but many have had success. Rhamondre Stevenson declared for the NFL Draft after taking the bulk of the carries in the second half of the 2020 season. This came after an offseason that included Trey Sermon transferring to Ohio State and then Kennedy Brooks opting out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19.
Most recently, Oklahoma landed running back Eric Gray from Tennessee via transfer.
But as we look to the future of the Oklahoma backfield, it’s arguably never looked stronger than in 2022 when Brown will be on campus and hope to be the latest stud in the OU backfield.
