A week after announcing his transfer from the Oregon Ducks, the starting quarterback for Oregon in 2020 will be heading to west Texas. On Monday, quarterback Tyler Shough posted on Twitter that he will be transferring to Texas Tech. Keep in mind, Tyler still has three years of eligibility left.
Shough played and started in all seven games for the Ducks in 2020. This was his first year as the starting quarterback for the as he finished the 2020 season throwing for 1,559 yards and 13 touchdowns, completing 106 of his 167 attempts, and also threw six interceptions. Shough also ran for 66 carries in 2020 and finished the year with 271 yards on the ground and two more touchdowns.
A redshirt sophomore in 2020, Tyler was granted a free year of eligibility for this past season meaning he could still be on Texas Tech’s roster in 2023 when the Ducks are scheduled to take on the Red Raiders. That would certainly be interesting if is still in Lubbock.
This is big news for the Red Raiders after former starting quarterback Alan Bowman announced his decision to transfer out last month. It should be a very interesting quarterback battle for Texas Tech this offseason between Tyler Shough and true freshman Behren Morton.
