Macio Teague Named Finalist for Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year

Baylor guard MaCio Teague is among the five finalists for the 2021 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Tuesday.
The Jerry West Award is given to the nation’s best shooting guard. Kansas guard Ochai Agbaji was part of the Top 10, but was not included among the finalists.
Baylor, which returns to the floor tonight after a long COVID-19 absence and postponements due to severe winter weather in Texas, is the No. 2 team in the nation behind Gonzaga.
Teague is the Bears’ second-leading scorer with 14.7 points per game. He’s also averaging 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists for Baylor, which hasn’t played since Feb. 2 against Texas.
Per BaylorBears.com, Teague is the nation’s only active player with 1,500+ career points (1,674), 400+ rebounds (483), 225+ assists (246), 125+ steals (130) and 225+ made 3-pointers (250).
The 2021 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award will be presented April 9.
