Oklahoma State Lands Safety Kendal Daniels, No. 1 Recruit in Oklahoma

NCAA Football: Oklahoma State at Central Michigan

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have long been branded by offensive firepower, but that could be shifting as the Pokes were powered by their defense in 2020 and are now landing top-flight defensive prospects. On Monday, four-star safety Kendal Daniels announced on Twitter he has committed to the Cowboys.

Daniels was part of the Class of 2021 where he was ranked as a Top 100 player nationally, Top 5 safety and No. 1 player in the state of Oklahoma, according to 247Sports.

He is from Beggs, Oklahoma and is an enormous 6-foot-4, 190 pounds. Daniels was originally committed to Texas A&M, but was released from his National Letter of Intent in recent weeks after a coach on the Aggies staff left the program. There are no character concerns at all around Daniels.

According to Pistols Firing Blog, it gives OSU its highest-rated defensive recruit since Richetti Jones in 2007 and marks the second time (including Tramonda Moore, who never played at OSU) in the 247Sports ranking era that the No. 1 recruit in the state has chosen the Cowboys.

Daniels is now the highest-rated commitment in the 2021 class, ahead of four-star in-state DT Aden Kelley and Texas receivers Bryson and Blaine Green.
