Ever since we found out that Shaka Smart was leaving Texas for Marquette, the rumors have circulated as to who they might try to hire.
One name keeps popping up: Texas Tech’s Chris Beard.
He has a degree from Texas, however as this website has noted, it won’t be as easy as some Longhorns alumni and fans want to believe.
Chris Beard has plenty of incentives and reasons to stay put at Texas Tech.
However if you’re looking for signs as to what Beard might be thinking, this is an interesting development.
OK, maybe that’s reading between the lines too much, but at this point, Tech fans will take every sign, no matter how big or small, they can to believe Beard is staying put.
Texas Tech basketball is coming off a season that saw them lose in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to Arkansas, however what Beard has accomplished during his tenure in Lubbock is incredibly impressive, including a run to the 2019 NCAA Tournament Championship Game.
But if we are to read into this Twitter photo change at all, it may be a sign to Red Raider Nation that he is loyal to the program that gave him his biggest break, understands the job security he has, and is ready to keep a great thing going in West Texas.
