Texas LB Juwan Mitchell Enters NCAA Transfer Portal

Texas linebacker Juwan Mitchell has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
According to Horns247 this is the second time Mitchell entered the portal. He first entered the portal on Jan. 29, 2020, only to pull his name out on Feb. 3. They also reported that “Mitchell has been struggling academically.”
Mitchell transferred to Texas from Butler Community College in Kansas ahead of the 2019 season. In 2019, he played in 11 games and had three starts while recording 39 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, four pass breakups and three quarterback hurries.
Then in 2020, he would lead the defense in tackles with 62 total stops. In 10 games and eight starts, Mitchell also had 4.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup, one quarterback hurry and one fumble recovery as the Longhorns capped off the season with an 8-3 season and a win in the Alamo Bowl.
For the Longhorns, they now have a young group at linebacker with Mitchell leaving and DeMarvion Overshown recovering from shoulder surgery. So for new defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, he will be working with a lot of new faces at the position.
Names to watch include: Jaylan Ford, David Gbenda, Jaden Hullaby and Marcus Tillman Jr.
