Ever since Texas hired Steve Sarkisian as its new football coach, there has been a renewed hype around the program. The question is if that hype can translate into not just big recruiting wins, but big wins on the field.
However, on the recruiting trail, the Longhorns have had success since Sarkisian took over, but they’ll take an even bigger step forward if they can land five-star wide receiver Kevin Coleman out of St. Louis. Coleman is listed as the No. 1 player in Missouri, No. 2 wide receiver in the country and the No. 16 player in America.

“Texas combines some of the elements that the other schools on the list have. With head coach Steve Sarkisian coming from Alabama, he will implement a very similar offense that will utilize skill players like Waddle and Smith. Wide receivers coach Andre Coleman has, along with Sark, been in contact with Coleman. Similarly to Florida State, Coleman has played 7-on-7 with some Longhorn comits like Jaydon Blue and Jaylon Guilbeau. With the schools on his list being further from home, Texas is actually one of the closer options, although Coleman has never said distance or location will be a factor. That said, the Longhorns have now positioned themselves among the contenders in this race and will have an opportunity with this new-look staff to show him what the offense will look like this fall.”
The Longhorns are in a great place with their Class of 2022, as is much of the Big 12 Conference.
Currently, Texas has the No. 9 class in the Class of 2022, which is one spot behind the Oklahoma Sooners, according to 247Sports.
No. 2 running back Jaydon Blue is the top commit to Texas right now, but if Coleman were to pick the Longhorns, he would become the No. 1 recruit heading to Austin as part of next year’s class.
