OU Football Players Trejan Bridges, Seth McGowan Identified as Suspects in Armed Robbery

On Friday night, news broke that two University of Oklahoma student-athletes were allegedly involved in an armed robbery on Thursday night in Norman, Oklahoma and have been suspended.
At the time, Multiple reports indicate those involved are two football players, but no names have been released.
Since then, the names have been confirmed as wide receiver Trejan Bridges and running back Seth McGowan.
Several NPD officers apprehended Bridges at approximately 10:45 p.m. Thursday night less than a mile from campus, and police on the scene disclosed that the redshirt sophomore wide receiver had been detained in connection with an alleged robbery involving firearms at the Crimson Park apartment complex. Bridges was unaccompanied at the time of his detainment.
The Norman Police Department told OUInsider that officers had responded to reports of said robbery shortly after 10:00 p.m., and said that one person had been injured but was not hospitalized. NPD said that no arrests have been made yet, and Bridges was released from police custody upon questioning.
SI Sooners was told in a statement by OU, “We are aware of a matter that may involve OU student-athletes and are monitoring the situation closely. The student-athletes in question have been suspended pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation. We have no other information to share at this time.”
It’s believed everyone involved in the situation knew each other and did involve a “firearms violation”.
Over his first two seasons as a Sooner, Bridges has nine catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Meantime, McGowan finished his true freshman season in 2020 with 370 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
Norman Police Department says it should have more updates in the coming days.
The Oklahoma Sooners are in the middle of spring practice and have their spring game scheduled for Saturday, April 24th, at Memorial Stadium. OU is heading into the 2021 football season trying to win its sixth Big 12 Championship in a row.
