Interview With Oklahoma State 2022 Quarterback Commit Garret Rangel

Garret Rangel

On Sunday, I got the chance to see Oklahoma State 2022 quarterback commit Garret Rangel out of Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas. Garret competed in the Dallas regional Elite 11 camp on Sunday as he battled out with some of the best the state of Texas has to offer. And despite not getting an invite (which I thought he should have gotten one), he still put on quite a performance. After the drills were over, I got the chance to catch up with the future Oklahoma State Cowboy.

HCS: How did you feel like you performed at the Elite 11 camp?

Garret: I thought I did really well and competed at a high level. At first, I was a little nervous, but as the camp went on, I picked it up and didn’t miss any throws.”

HCS: How do you think you stack up against some of the big-name guys here?

Garret: I have known some of these guys for a long time and I think I am top tier. I believe I am one of the best. Plus, playing quarterback you have to have the mindset that you are on of the best out there.”

HCS: You have been committed to Oklahoma State for a couple months now, how solid is your commitment to the Cowboys?

Garret: It’s 110%.”

HCS: Any plans on taking a visit up to Stillwater?

Garret:“Yeah, we are going to the spring game this week and I will take my official visit from June 9th to 11th.”

HCS: What is something about Mike Gundy that you really like?

Garret: “He is very funny and very easy to talk to. I feel like I could talk to him about anything. I talk to him every week and we have great conversations about life and football. He is such a good man and a great coach. I am super excited to play for him.”

HCS: What were your thoughts about last season’s Oklahoma State team?

Garret: “I thought they did really good. Obviously, there are games where things don’t go your way and that’s football. They are brining a lot of guys back this season and I am excited to watch them this season.”

HCS: What is your pregame ritual that people would find odd?

Garret: “So, I have to wear three wristbands on my left wrist and my right wrist. And right before we go out, I have to listen to some old country. Some Johnny Cash type of stuff. It gets me in a game mood and keeps me levelheaded.”
