Big 12 NFL Draft Picks Since 2016 by Team

Kyler Murray NFL Draft

The 2021 NFL Draft is right around the corner and the Big 12 Conference isn’t expected to have one of the top picks this year. However, the 2022 NFL Draft is expected to be a much different story with players like Spencer Rattler and Brock Purdy eligible and/or expected to take their talents to the next level.

That being said, it’s always fun to look back and see how the conference stacks up against each other over the past five NFL Drafts.

FOX Sports put a list together for the most NFL Draft picks in the Big 12 over the past five drafts dating back to 2016.

It’s not a surprise that Oklahoma comes in as a decided No. 1. However, TCU at No. 2 might have caught some folks by surprise. It should not. The more surprising part is that Gary Patterson hasn’t won more with this team the past three seasons considering the number of NFL Draft picks.

West Virginia, Texas and Baylor round out of the Top 5. Considering how well Texas has recruited, it’s a huge disappointment they find themselves so low on the list. However this says more about the development of the coaching staffs under Charlie Strong and Tom Herman.

Also of note, has anyone done more with less than Iowa State? They’re tied with Kansas with just two NFL Draft picks. However, I suspect that number will start to increase rapidly in coming NFL Drafts.
