Oklahoma State wrapped up its spring game on Saturday and got some more good news on Sunday. Three-star cornerback prospect Avyonne Jones announced his verbal commitment to the Cowboys for the Class of 2022.
Jones was at the Oklahoma State spring game on Saturday and made the announcement on Twitter on Sunday.
“First of all I would like to thank all the coaches I have met throughout this recruiting process, who have reached out and built relationships with me,” Jones wrote in a message posted to Twitter. “With that being said, after careful consideration I’m excited to announce my commitment to Oklahoma State University. Go Pokes.”
Jones was also considered a priority for Texas Tech and had offers from Wisconsin, Arkansas, Arizona and several others. The Southlake, Texas native is ranked as the No. 96 cornerback in the Class of 2022, according to 247Sports.
As a junior last season at Southlake Carroll, Jones finished with 46 total tackles with three tackles for loss, an interception and a team-high 13 passes defensed. He was a Texas District 4-6A first-team selection at cornerback, as the Dragons went 12-2 and 6-0 in District play and finished runner-up finish in the Texas 6A Division 1 State Playoffs.
In the composite rankings, Jones is the No. 1,015 overall recruit in the class and No. 129 prospect regardless of position in the Lone Star State. He is listed at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds.
Jones is the fifth defensive commitment for Oklahoma State in the 2022 recruiting cycle, joining Cameron Epps, Jordan Crook, Landon Dean and Gabe Brown.
