Oklahoma RB Seth McGowan Enters Transfer Portal

NCAA Football: Big 12 Championship-Baylor vs Oklahoma

Weeks after allegedly being involved in a robbery, Oklahoma Sooners running back Seth McGowan has entered the transfer portal according to multiple reports.

As a freshman in 2020, McGowan ran for 370 yards on 58 carries. OU was relatively thin at the position for the start of the season and McGowan held his own. His best game came in a loss to Kansas State when he had 13 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown. However even before the legal trouble, he was likely going to be third on the depth chart behind Kennedy Brooks and Eric Gray heading into this season.

McGowan and wide receiver Trejan Bridges were not with the team for the final week of spring practice and Lincoln Riley has been committed to letting the legal process play out. However it seems highly unlikely at this point that either player is with the team moving forward.

McGowan was a four-star prospect and the No. 13 running back in the country coming out of Mesquite, Texas according to 247Sports.com. His other top choices coming out of high school were Texas A&M, Georgia and USC.
