TCU’s Mike Miles Earns USA Basketball U-19 Camp Invite

TCU guard Mike Miles announced on Twitter on Wednesday that he had received an invitation to USA Basketball’s U-19 training camp, which will be held later this year.

Miles’ announcement came through the TCU basketball Twitter account.

 

Miles should be one of the best returning players in the Big 12 next season. He’ll be the leader for a TCU team that lost nine players to the transfer portal after the season. Plus, TCU is waiting to hear if guard R.J. Nembhard will return after declaring for the NBA Draft, but retaining his eligibility.

The Lancaster, Texas, native was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and Big 12 All-Freshman Team selection who made 21 starts out of 25 total games. He averaged 13.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, and was one of five freshmen in the country to average at least 13 points, three rebounds and three assists per game last season. His season-best came against Missouri on Jan. 30 in the Big 12-SEC Challenge, during which he scored 28 points, to go with five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Miles’ scoring average of 13.6 per game ranked 14th in the Big 12, second among freshmen in the Big 12 and 15th nationally among freshmen.

TCU was 6-2 when he recorded five or more assists. He also led TCU in free throw percentage at 82.7 percent, and finished the season making 26 of the his last 30 free throw attempts.
