The West Virginia Mountaineers released their 2021-11 non-conference men’s basketball schedule, with a slew of home games and one non-conference tournament.
The Mountaineers had previously announced their participation in the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic from Nov. 18-21. That tournament will feature potential games against Boise State, Clemson, Elon, Marquette, Ole Miss, St. Bonaventure or Temple.
WVU also announced its Big 12-Big East Battle game with UConn for Dec. 8. That game will be in Morgantown, West Virginia, and will the first matchup between the two former Big East rivals in a decade.
The Mountaineers will open the season at home on Nov. 9 against Oakland. Three days later, on Nov. 12, the Mountaineers will host Pitt in the 188th renewal of the famed ‘Backyard Brawl.’ Due to COVID-19, the two teams were not able to meet last season.
