Four-Star QB Nicco Marchiol Commits to West Virginia Mountaineers

NCAA Football: Kansas State at West Virginia

The West Virginia Mountaineers have found their quarterback for the 2022 class. On Monday afternoon, West Virginia received a verbal commitment from quarterback Nicco Marchiol out of the state of Arizona.

Marchiol is ranked as a four-star prospect by 247sports and is ranked as a top 25 quarterback for the class of 2022. Also, 247Sports has him as a top 300 overall player in the 2022 cycle.

Coming out of Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona Nicco has 27 offers and some of his offers included schools such as Florida, LSU, Michigan, Penn State, USC, and Florida State as well as a few other big name programs.

Back in January Nicco released his top four schools which had Arizona State, Florida, Florida State and Rutgers. However, the Mountaineers received a lot of buzz following Nicco’s visit earlier this month.

With Nicco’s commitment, West Virginia now has a total of eight commits for the class of 2022 which is currently ranked in the top 40 according to 247sports. There is no doubt that this was a huge get for Neal Brown and his staff. It will be interesting to see if Nicco’s commitment can help build some momentum for this West Virginia recruiting class.

The Mountaineers have had an up and down offseason, losing some of their key players to the transfer portal, some of whom Coach Brown insists he believes were tampered with by other programs.

But for now, it’s all optimism in Morgantown as WVU has its quarterback of the future.
