Report: Matthew Mayer to Return to Baylor in 2021-22

Baylor forward Matthew Mayer has reportedly removed his name from consideration for the NBA Draft and will return to the Bears in 2021-22, according to a report at ESPN.com.
Mayer was considered a second-round pick by NBA scouts entering this week’s scouting combine in Chicago. Mayer had been invited, but will reportedly not attend.
Mayer was a part of Baylor’s run to the 2021 national championship, averaging 8.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game last year. Because of his height (6-foot-7) and 3-point shooting ability, scouts saw him as a potential second-rounder. By returning, Mayer likely steps into the starting lineup full time next season and could improve his standing to the first round.
Meanwhile, that means nine Big 12 players are set to take to the combine this week in Chicago — Kansas guard Ochai Agbaji, Texas forward Greg Brown III, Baylor guard Jared Butler, Texas forward Kai Jones, West Virginia guard Miles McBride, Baylor guard Davion Mitchell, Oklahoma guard Austin Reaves, Texas Tech guard/forward Terrence Shannon Jr. and Texas forward Jericho Sims.
