Baylor vs. Alabama Highlights Big 12-SEC Challenge Pairings
Defending national champion Baylor will take on Alabama in the featured pairing of the Big 12-SEC Challenge, as the pairings were announced on Wednesday.
All games will be played on Jan. 29, 2021.
The Bears will travel to Alabama. While the Bears are coming off a national championships, the Crimson Tide are coming off a deep NCAA Tournament run that saw them fall just short of the Final Four.
The matchups also feature a pair of the game’s ‘bluebloods’ facing off in Lawrence, Kansas, as the Kansas Jayhawks will host the Kentucky Wildcats. The Jayhawks reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year, while Kentucky failed to make the event and had one of their most disappointing seasons in recent memory.

Along with Kansas, Iowa State, TCU, Texas, and Texas Tech drew the home games. The Texas pairing is quite intriguing, as the Longhorns — under new head coach Chris Beard — will host Tennessee, which is coached by former Longhorns boss Rick Barnes.
Iowa State will host former Big 8 and Big 12 rival Missouri, TCU will host LSU, and Texas Tech will host Mississippi State.
Along with Baylor, Kansas State (at Ole Miss), Oklahoma (at Auburn), Oklahoma State (at Florida) and West Virginia (at Arkansas) will be on the road.
Big 12 teams are 44-35 (.557) in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Big 12 has a yearly Challenge record of 4-2-2 with wins in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019. One game was canceled in 2021 due to COVID. Ties occurred in 2017 and 2020. In case of a tie, the trophy stays with the conference that won it the previous season.
