The TCU Horned Frogs are starting to make some headway on their 2022 class with the addition of three-star defensive lineman Trevon McAlpine.
McAlpine becomes the fourth commit of the class and is ranked as the 77th-best defensive lineman in the 2022 class, according to 247Sports. The Saraland, Alabama native is also ranked as the 24th-best prospect in his state.
There were a handful of Big 12 schools trying to land McAlpine, including West Virginia and Kansas State, while Arizona State and Colorado were also in the mix. McAlpine is listed at 6’3”, 280 pounds and becomes the first defensive player to commit to the Horned Frogs in the 2022 class.
TCU had McAlpine visit just over two weeks ago and made a great impression on the young man, who told Horned Frog Blitz after his visit, “The visit was great me and the family loved it. There wasn’t just one thing that stood out I was blown away by everything.” He added that TCU defensive tackles coach Zarnell Fitch reminded him of a coach at his high school.
Defensive tackle is a big need for the Frogs for the 2022 class as four of their current players will be out of eligibility following the upcoming 2021 college football season.
TCU’s class still has a ways to go, but it is currently ranked 9th in the Big 12 and 74th in the nation, according to the 247Sports rankings.
