Three Up, Three Down: Big 12 Media Days, Spencer Rattler and TexAgs

Every single week there are plenty of different sports discussions going on in the world of social media. Whether it is Facebook or Twitter, you can guarantee that as you are reading this, some people at this very moment are arguing over sports.

Whether it be comments, tweets, radio or television, there is always something buzzing in the sports world. Sometimes for better or worse but I thought it would be fun to capture the week with a three up and three down series to show you what I saw that caught my eye this past week.

Three Up

Big 12 Media Days

It seems like every time Big 12 media days rolls around, it is the unofficial kick off to the upcoming football season. It’s a chance for us media nerds to talk with players and coaches to get their thoughts on the season ahead. Last year, media days were cancelled due to COVID-19, but we will be at full strength this year with several people from Heartland College Sports there in Jerry World. Also, it gives me a chance to use the HCS credit card to see how much money I can spend without maxing it out. Just kidding, drinks are on Pete!

Spencer Rattler

With the new NIL rules in place, players are starting to make some money for themselves. Some have gone many different ways to earn their dollars, but I always love the food sponsorships. Take a look at Oklahoma starting quarterback Spencer Rattler

While some may not be a fan of Raising Cane’s, I get it. Maybe it’s not that great but I for one do enjoy some delicious chicken covered in their magical Cane’s sauce. Speaking of sauce, does this mean Spencer gets extra sauce for free?

Catch of the Year

When I saw this, I was left speechless. Look at the effort by this man and I have no idea how he kept his composure throughout all of this. He’s dad of the year in my book.

Three Down

Lack of Quarterbacks

I know I was excited for Big 12 media days coming up next week but there were two problems I had with it heading in. I’ll get to the other one soon but when I see what players are coming, one thing sticks out to me. Where are all the dang quarterbacks? We have ten teams coming to Jerry World and two players from each team are coming. I know normally there is four to five players per team but still, only two quarterbacks? Give me a break.

Texas is Back?

People, when are some of these media members going to learn? Texas at number three? Sheesh why do we play this silly game every year. Don’t worry folks, come Monday my own preseason polls and teams will be released so stay tuned.

Billy Liucci

I completely agree that Texas has been bad over the last decade, but I always find it funny when A&M fan boys, I mean media members say crap like this. If Texas hasn’t been relevant, then what the heck has A&M been over the last 20 years? Neither program has won a conference title in the last ten years and while Texas played for one back in 2018, the Aggies haven’t played for a conference crown since 1998.
