As the Iowa State Cyclones continue to build their brand, they’ve landed one of their biggest recruits to date under Matt Campbell is Hunter Deyo.
Deyo is a consensus four-star 2022 defensive tackle out of Lewis Central, an in-state product, committed to the Cyclones over the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday. It was considered to be a battle between the in-state products, but Deyo also held offers from Arkansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Oregon and Wisconsin.
Deyo is 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, and according to the 247Sports Composite, he the No. 273 overall prospect in 2022, the 38th-ranked defensive lineman and 3rd-ranked player in the state of Iowa.
Deyo is a two-time All-State player who registered 38 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks during the 2020 season.
He becomes Iowa State’s 14th and highest-rated 2022 recruit, while the Cyclones launch themselves into the Top 30 of the 247Sports recruiting rankings, coming in at No. 27 in the country and 6th in the Big 12.
