Five-Star Kicker Gavin Marshall Commits to Oklahoma Sooners

NCAA Football: Big 12 Championship-Baylor vs Oklahoma

The Sooners don’t just land five-star recruits on offense and defense, they also do it on special teams. On Friday, five-star kicker Gavin Marshall committed to the Oklahoma Sooners.

Marshall made the announcement on social media.

Marshall is 6’2”, 190 pounds and is part of the Class of 2022. He is rated by Kohl’s Kicking Camps as a five-star kicker and the No. 17 overall kicker in the country. Marshall also rates as a four-star punter and he picked Oklahoma over offers from Florida State, Arizona State, Air Force and Army.

Marshall played his junior season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He hit eight of nine field goal attempts and all 60 PATs. On kickoff, Marshall recorded touchbacks on 50 of his 64 attempts.

Since the major recruiting services don’t focus on kickers, here’s the analysis from KohlsKicking.com:

Marshall recently attended Kohl’s Underclassman Challenge and a May Showcase in 2021. He again proved he is a D1 recruit. He has one of the best legs we have seen in the 2022 class by hitting multiple 55-yard field goal attempts. In June of 2020, his OKC camp field goals would have been good from 60-plus on multiple kicks. Marshall’s overall coordination is impressive. He is a very good specialist and is able to do things on the football field that other good players cannot. Marshall should be able to play early in college!

Marshall is the 14th commitment for the Sooners in their 2022 Class, which ranks 5th in the nation and No. 1 in the Big 12.
