Iowa State LB Mike Rose Leads Big 12 on Bednarik Award Watch List

Iowa State linebacker Mike Rose leads the list of Big 12 players selected to the Bednarik Award Watch List, the award given to the nation’s top defensive player.
The watch list was released on Monday, kicking off two weeks’ worth of watch lists for college football’s major awards. The Bednarik is named for former Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Chuck Bednarik.
Rose led the Big 12 in total tackles with 96. The Athletic and Phil Steele named Rose a First-Team All-American, and he also earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors, making him just the second Cyclone to win the award.
Eight Big 12 teams had at least one player on the watch list, which will be modified throughout the season.
