Oklahoma at No. 2 Leads Three Big 12 Teams in Preseason AP Poll

As we get closer to the 2021 college football season, the Alabama Crimson Tide will be the the team being chased, once again, but there is a Big 12 team right in the rearview mirror. The Oklahoma Sooners came in at No. 2 in the Preseason AP Poll for the upcoming season. OU led three Big 12 teams ranked, with the Iowa State Cyclones at No. 7 and the Texas Longhorns at No. 21.

Alabama is now tied with Ohio State for the second-most preseason No. 1 rankings with eight. Oklahoma has the most with 10. Meantime, No. 7 Iowa State is ranked in the preseason for the third straight year after having only one previous appearance in the preseason poll (1978). The Cyclones had never been ranked better than 20th to begin a season.
Oklahoma State just missed the Top 25 with 106 votes and TCU was the third team out with 40 votes.

SEC: 5 (Nos. 1, 5, 6, 13, 16).
Big Ten: 5 (Nos. 4, 12, 17, 18, 19).
Pac-12: 5 (Nos. 11, 15, 20, 24, 25).
Big 12: 3 (No. 2, 7, 21).
ACC: 3 (Nos. 3, 10, 14).
