Gonzaga, Tennessee Highlight Texas Tech’s Non-Conference Slate

NCAA Basketball: Baylor at Texas Tech

Gonzaga and Tennessee highlight the Texas Tech Red Raiders’ men’s basketball non-conference schedule for the 2021-22 season, which was released on Wednesday.

The games with the Bulldogs and the Volunteers had already been announced. The Red Raiders and the Bulldogs are set to square off on Dec. 18 in the Jerry Colangelo Classic in Phoenix at Suns Arena. Before that, on Dec. 7, the Red Raiders face the Volunteers at Madison Square Garden in the Jimmy V Classic.

It’s one of two Southeastern Conference opponents the Red Raiders have on the schedule. Texas Tech will also play Mississippi State in Lubbock on Jan. 29 in the Big 12-SEC Challenge.

Texas Tech starts the season with three straight home games — Nov. 9 against North Florida, Nov. 12 against Grambling State and Nov. 15 against Prairie View A&M.

After that the Red Raiders face Incarnate Word at the South Padre Island Battle on the Beach in south Texas. The Red Raiders then return home for two more home games against Omaha on Nov. 23 and Lamar on Nov. 27.

Texas Tech has three more scheduled home games in December — Arkansas State on Dec. 14, Eastern Washington  on Dec. 22 and Alabama State on Dec. 28. The game with Alabama State will be the Red Raiders’ final game before Big 12 play begins.
