New Big 12 Bowl Projections Feature Nine of Ten Teams Making Bowl Game

NCAA Football: Sugar Bowl-Alabama vs Clemson

Even though we are just three weeks in the college football season, that doesn’t mean we can’t look ahead to what the future may hold. There are still plenty of important games to get through and a long way to go but it is never too early to start thinking about the postseason.

Brett McMurphy from The Action Network recently released his college football bowl projections. It is always interesting to see how things change from week to week but here is what Brett currently has listed for the Big 12.

CFB Playoff Capital One Orange Bowl

#1 Alabama vs #4 Oklahoma

Allstate Sugar Bowl

Iowa State vs Texas A&M

Texas Bowl

TCU vs Arkansas

Valero Alamo Bowl

Kansas State vs USC

Cheez-It Bowl

Texas vs Notre Dame

Guaranteed Rate Bowl

Baylor vs Minnesota

AutoZone Liberty Bowl

Oklahoma State vs Kentucky

Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl

Texas Tech vs Maryland

Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl

West Virginia vs Louisville

This is a pretty crazy list that has nine Big 12 teams making a bowl game. Obviously the two biggest matchups are the Oklahoma and Iowa State games. Brett has the Sooners in the College Football Playoff and Iowa State in another NY6 bowl against a former Big 12 team.

The other game that catches my eye is the Cheez-It Bowl where he has Texas and Notre Dame squaring off. Those are two massive fan bases, but that is not where those teams want to be. Sure, the stands may be full, but neither team probably wants to end up in Orlando.

Outside of the Big 12, there was one interesting game that involved two future Big 12 teams. His projection had BYU and Cincinnati facing off in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl. That would be fun and since technically it is a Big 12 game, I wonder if owner Pete Mundo would be willing to send me out to Arizona. Of course I’m kidding, as I’ve been known to abuse the Heartland College Sports credit card, but if that comes true, we for sure will have one future Big 12 team winning a NY6 bowl game.
