Big 12 Football Bowl Projections Entering Week 5

NCAA Football: Sugar Bowl-Alabama vs Clemson

Even though we are just four weeks into the college football season, that doesn’t mean we can’t look ahead to what the future may hold. There are still plenty of important games to get through and a long way to go but it is never too early to start thinking about the postseason.

Brett McMurphy from the Action Network recently released his latest college football bowl projections. It is always interesting to see how things change from week to week but here is what Brett currently has listed for the Big 12.

Allstate Sugar Bowl

Oklahoma vs Arkansas

Texas Bowl

Iowa State vs Kentucky

Valero Alamo Bowl

Oklahoma State vs Oregon State

Cheez-It Bowl

Notre Dame vs Texas

Guaranteed Rate Bowl

West Virginia vs Indiana

AutoZone Liberty Bowl

Baylor vs Mississippi State

SERVPRO First Responder Bowl

Kansas State vs Utah

Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl

TCU vs Army

Last week Brett had nine Big 12 teams in his bowl projections. That number dropped to eight this week as he left Texas Tech off this week’s list. It would be hard for me to criticize that due to the fact that Texas Tech will be without starting quarterback Tyler Shough for a bit and due to the way they looked against Texas last weekend.

Looking at the top of the conference, Oklahoma fell to a NY6 bowl from the playoff and Iowa State fell from a NY6 bowl to the Texas Bowl. That would be really unfortunate for the Big 12 if that did happen. Right now, the Sooners still have a change to go to the playoff though.

One team that climbed up a bit was Oklahoma State. Last week’s projection had the Cowboys in the Liberty Bowl but now they are penciled in for the Alamo Bowl. That would be a big upgrade for the Cowboys, but they have to square off against Baylor this weekend. My guess is that the winner of that game would likely be in the Alamo Bowl in for the next projections.
