Oklahoma Sooners

Spencer Rattler Temporarily Removes Oklahoma from Instagram Bio

NCAA Football: Big 12 Championship-Oklahoma at Iowa State

It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler. The preseason Heisman Trophy favorite and former five-star recruit lost his starting job two games ago against Texas to true freshman Caleb Williams.

After Williams led OU to the largest comeback in Red River Rivalry history, he got the start last week against TCU, which Oklahoma went on to win by 21 points.

It’s clear this is Caleb Williams’ team now, and the question now becomes: What is Rattler’s future?

In today’s transfer portal world, players have more mobility than ever before, and there’s a general belief that Rattler will leave OU if he isn’t guaranteed playing time moving forward.

Well something interesting happened this week when Rattler’s Instagram profile no longer had any reference to the Oklahoma Sooners on it.

However, later on the same day, Rattler had popped “Quarterback @ OU” back into his profile.

It’s certainly not ideal that Rattler is already sending messages like this on social media, as it could be a sign he’s already checked out from the program. Did it give us a glimpse into what’s going on in his mind? Or is it just a young player frustrated and dealing with major adversity for the first time in his career?

Regardless, Rattler clearly plans on playing somewhere next season, whether it’s the NFL, at OU or somewhere else in college football remains to be seen.
