DeMarvion Overshown Among 3 Big 12 LB’s on Butkus List

DeMarvion Overshown was one of three Big 12 linebackers named to the 2021 Dick Butkus Award Semifinal Watch List on Monday.
The watch list revealed the 16 players that are semifinal candidates for the award given to the best linebacker in college football. It is named for Dick Butkus, who played his college football at Illinois and later became a Pro Football Hall of Famer with the Chicago Bears.
Overshown leads the Longhorns with 61 tackles, 31 solo tackles and two fumble recoveries. He also has 1 1/2 sacks.
The other two Big 12 players to make the cut were Oklahoma’s Brian Asamoah and Oklahoma State’s Malcolm Rodriquez.
Asamoah has 51 tackles this season, with 34 of them being solo. Rodriquez, meanwhile, has 77 tackles, which leads the Big 12.
The Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowboys are among the front-runners to reach the Big 12 Championship game in December.
