College Football Playoff Rankings: Three Big 12 Teams Crack Top 25

Oklahoma is ranked No. 8 in the first College Football Playoff Top 25, meaning the Sooners and the Big 12 would be left out of the Playoff if it started today.
The Sooners (9-0 overall) are one of three Big 12 teams in the Top 25, including Oklahoma State (7-1) at No. 11 and Baylor (7-1) at No. 12.
The Sooners are the only member of the trio that are undefeated, and the Sooners still must play Baylor, Iowa State and Oklahoma State in regular-season action. That could bode well for the Sooners, in terms of improving their rankings. The Sooners are off this week.
Oklahoma is one of six teams in FBS that is undefeated entering this week.
Georgia came in at No. 1 in the Top 25, followed by Alabama at No. 2, Michigan State at No. 3 and Oregon at No. 4. If the Playoff started today, that would be the field.
Cincinnati, the future Big 12 member that is undefeated at 8-0 and represents the best shot the current Group of 5 schools have at reaching the playoff, was left out of the initial snapshot of the playoff field and came in at No. 6. The Bearcats have four games remaining, plus a potential berth in the American Athletic Conference title game. The Bearcats likely need to go 13-0 to have any chance of becoming the first Group of 5 team to be selected to the College Football Playoff.
Another future Big 12 member, BYU, came in at No. 15.
The rankings will come out each Tuesday through the rest of the season, with the final rankings and playoff field announced on Sunday, Dec. 5.
