Brock Purdy’s brother, Chubba Purdy, is a former four-star quarterback who has been at Florida State since committing as part of the Class of 2020. But on Wednesday, it was reported, and then confirmed, that the signal caller is set to find a new home.
The dual-threat quarterback from Gilbert, AZ was not present at FSU’s two most recent practices. He shared a message via a tweet after news of his entering the transfer portal became public.
“I want to thank the Seminole fans and Florida State community for all their support during my time at Florida State,” Purdy wrote. “After careful consideration and a discussion with my family I will be moving on towards new beginnings. With that said I will be entering the transfer portal. Thank you and God Bless.”
Purdy was rated nation’s No. 6 dual-threat quarterback and No. 8 overall prospect in Arizona by 247Sports. In two seasons at the high school level, he produced 9,000 yards of total offense and 111 touchdowns. He was named Arizona Offensive High School Player of the Year as a senior and helped lead Perry to quarterfinals of 6A state playoffs.
