Oklahoma Signs Otega Oweh, Top 40 Class For Men’s Hoops

NCAA Basketball: Loyola-Chicago at Wisconsin

The Oklahoma Sooners snagged a Top 100 player in Otega Oweh, and signed two others, as the 2021-22 early signing window for men’s basketball opened on Wednesday.

This is new head coach Porter Moser’s first full recruiting cycle, and the Sooners signed three players, with the early-signing period set to end on Nov. 17.

Oweh is a 6-foot-6 forward from Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey. Oweh is the No. 73 national recruit according to 247Sports.com and is considered a four-star prospect. With Oweh, the Sooners’ class is ranked No. 38 overall and No. 5 in the Big 12.

Milos Uzan is 6-foot-4 and plays for Dream City Christian in Glendale, Arizona. Uzan isn’t too far outside the Top 100, as 247Sports.com has him ranked No. 118 overall. But ESPN.com has Uzan as a Top 100 prospect.

Benny Schröder is a 6-foot-7 forward from Germany. ESPN considers him the top international prospect in the 2022 class. With Kickz IBAM (International Basketball Academy Munich) in the U19 NBBL, he averaged 29 points, 6 boards and 4 assists per game.

Moser took over in March for Lon Kruger, who retired after the NCAA Tournament. Moser inherited a program that saw several of its players transfer away from the program. That included both of Kruger’s Class of 2020 recruits, Josh O’Garro and Trey Phipps.

In their place Moser put together a solid transfer class, one that include Duke guard Jordan Goldwire and Eastern Washington brothers Tanner Groves and Jacob Groves.

The Sooners opened the season on Tuesday with 77-59 win against Northwestern State. The Sooners host UT-San Antonio on Friday.
