AP Top 25 Men: Kansas Leads 3 Big 12 Teams in Top 10

The Kansas Jayhawks had a perfect 2-0 start to their season and remained No. 3 in the Associated Press Men’s Basketball Top 25, released on Monday.
Kansas was one of three Big 12 teams in the Top 25 after the first week of the season. Three Big 12 teams started the season in the Top 25, and all three remained there.
Kansas, which was No. 3 in the preseason poll, won both games last week, defeating Michigan State by 13 points in the Champions’ Classic in New York City and then beating Tarleton State at home, with Ochai Agbaji leading them in scoring on both nights.
The Jayhawks are back on the court against Stony Brook on Nov. 18, and then have a week off before starting a tournament in Orlando during the Thanksgiving holiday with an opener against North Texas.
Texas, which was No. 5 in the preseason poll, went 1-1 for the week, starting the week with a victory over Houston Baptist before losing when they traveled to No. 1 Gonzaga, 86-74. The Longhorns moved down to No. 8 this week.
Texas is prepping for home games against Northern Colorado on Wednesday and San Jose State on Saturday.
The third Big 12 team in the poll was the Baylor Bears, which opened the season on Friday with an easy win over Incarnate Word, before which they handed out their championship rings and raised their 2021 national championship banner. The Bears were No. 8 in the preseason poll and down to No. 9 this week. The Bears beat Nicholls State on Monday morning. Baylor faces Central Arkansas on Wednesday night and Stanford on Saturday afternoon.
Texas Tech, which received 17 votes in the preseason poll, won both of its games last week and received 27 votes. The Red Raiders have games against Prairie View A&M on Monday and Incarnate Word on Saturday.
Oklahoma State, which received 25 votes in the preseason poll, went 2-1 last week, which included a last-second loss to Oakland. By virtue of that, the Cowboys only received 10 votes. The Cowboys face UMass Lowell and NC State on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
