Well, Texas has a lot of work to do if they are going to turn things around in 2022, but it just got much easier for Sark and Co. to make it happen. According to a report from Jeff Howe of Horns247, Bijan Robinson will be back with Texas next season:
This is fantastic news for Steve Sarkisian and gives him a player to build around for next season’s purposes. When Sark is at his best as an offensive coach, he has had a bell-cow in the backfield. Najee Harris in 2020 is a perfect example, when Sarkisian led the Alabama offense to a Power-Five high 541.8 yards per game. That goes to show that a guy like Robinson in the backfield helps out the entire offensive scheme and raises the ceiling of what that unit is capable of. also, having Bijan will certainly be a calming presence for a new signal-caller if the Longhorns choose to go that direction in 2022.
Texas will have to play without its top returning weapon this week, as Robinson suffered a season-ending elbow injury in the 57-56 OT loss to Kansas two weeks ago. However, having him return next season was unexpected and will certainly give the Longhorns a much-needed boost going into the offseason.
