Baylor Bears

Baylor Planning Contract Extension for Dave Aranda in Upcoming Weeks: Report

NCAA Football: Kansas at Baylor

According to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, a big name in the coaching carousel is off the table and staying put in in Waco. Dave Aranda has been tied to several openings across college football as a potential candidate but he sounds perfectly content on staying with the Bears, just as he does below:

It’s not hard to see why Baylor players have rallied around Aranda this season to do something quite special. The Bears finished the 2020 season with two wins but have the chance this weekend to finish 10-2 and could land in the Big 12 Championship if Oklahoma falls in Stillwater. His passion for the sport and family culture has changed a Baylor program that was up in the air after Matt Rhule left into a formidable opponent week-in and week-out. No wonder he is one of the hottest names in the country to take jobs like USC or LSU. But for now, it sounds like those schools will have to look elsewhere.

Baylor will host Texas Tech on Saturday in the regular-season finale and, with a win, should be a candidate to make a New Year’s Six bowl, if not the Big 12 Championship as well.
