TCU Legend LaDanian Tomlinson Hopes to Help Keep Zach Evans With Program

When a name like Zach Evans announces that he intends to transfer, you do everything you can to keep him around. One of the 5 greatest running backs in NFL history is ready to hit the recruiting trail on TCU’s behalf to keep Zach Evans with the program. TCU legend LaDanian Tomlinson plans to “re-recruit” Evans, according to a report from Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
“I don’t know what Zach is going to do, but I would be surprised if he left,” Tomlinson said. “I know, everybody is in their feelings right now, and rightfully so. Heck, I threatened to transfer at one time, if you guys remember that. But I stayed, and so hopefully I’ll have a chance to talk to Zach at some point.”
New head coach Sonny Dykes was introduced this morning and is hopeful that he and his new staff will be able to coax Evans into staying in Fort Worth.
“Just like anything else, I think we need to have an opportunity to sit down with Zach and just get to know him a little bit,” Dykes said. “At the end of the day, I want what’s best for Zach. If TCU is the best for Zach and I believe that it is, then I’m hoping that’s what happens. If he can find an opportunity that he think fits him better, that’s his prerogative. I’ll have an opportunity to sit with him and talk to him and get to know him and build that relationship and get that trust and hopefully at that point we’ll see what happens.”
Evans is an absolute necessity to keep in Fort Worth and would be a weapon in Sonny Dykes offense ran by Garrett Riley. Only time will tell if they can keep him in Fort Worth, but it sounds like they are bringing in some big names to try and keep him around.
