Christian Braun is Big 12 Men’s Player of the Week

NCAA Basketball: Oklahoma State at Texas Tech

Christian Braun’s career-high 31 points was more than enough to earn him recognition as the Big 12 Men’s Player of the Week on Monday.

In addition, Oklahoma forward Tanner Groves earned the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week award, his second weekly recognition of the season.

Kansas defeated St. John’s on the road last week, a 95-75 victory for the Jayhawks. Braun scored 22 of his 31 points in the second half of the game. He also had a season-high eight rebounds.

The Jayhawks remain in the Top 10 in this week’s AP Top 25.

Kansas is preparing to face UTEP on Tuesday and Missouri on Saturday.

Groves was the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week in the season’s first week. Last week against Florida, Groves 20 points and eight rebounds in the 74-67 victory over the nationally-ranked Gators.

While Oklahoma is not ranked in the Top 25, the Sooners are starting build a case and received votes in the poll for the second straight week.
